Advanced Bible Institute- Teacher: Dr. Young
AWANA Commander: Lisa Morris, 215-2748
FAITH Evangelism Training - Teacher: Libby Barnhill, 347-9155 FAITH is the outreach ministry of our church. FAITH meets every Monday night at 6:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. In FAITH, teams from each Bible Study Class go and make visits to that week's first-time church guests, folks in the neighborhood, the sick, the shut-ins, and anyone that has requested a visit. Before the teams go and make visits, though, each member has been taught how to talk to others, has learned a very simple outline on how to share their faith with others, and how to lead a person to Christ. FAITH is a wonderful class to join, to learn how to easily communicate your faith, share a simple plan of salvation, and to reach the hurting and lost in the community. FAITH is a 12 week program in which you are equipped to present the plan of salvation to an unbeliever, and to share your own testimony of salvation. Before every class there is a light meal served at 5:30 p.m. There are no age restrictions to FAITH-- everyone is welcome.
Our food service ministry is in use constantly. All of the fine meals that we have on the grounds during special events or the monthly meals we enjoy, are all prepared by our wonderful food service volunteers. We are definitely an eating church, which means that this group is always working and preparing the Church many fantastic meals. This ministry prepares meals during Jubilee, revivals, fundraisers, luncheons, banquets, and more. Those that feel they are good in a kitchen are welcome to join in and help cook or clean. The food service ministry also schedules caterers for events like pizza parties for groups at Church. This ministry is very useful and enjoyed by the whole Church Family.
Good News Club is an outreach program from CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship). Good News Clubs are Christian after-school clubs for elementary age children. They can attend after school and have snacks, play games, sing songs, and hear lessons about Jesus. This ministry is held on public school campuses where they can reach children that may have never heard about Jesus or the Bible. Our Church is very happy to say that we sponsor two clubs: Ocean Bay Elementary and Forestbrook Elementary. This means that once every week during school the school year we have opportunities to reach children in two public elementary schools. We begin this ministry each year in the Fall at the beginning of school and continue throughout the school year. There have been many children who have given their lives to Christ through this effective outreach program. For more information go to cefmb.org The Men's Ministry is a way for the men and young men of the Church to grow spiritually closer to God. Iron Men has many fun activities too. The men of the church go on many trips: camping, fishing, hunting, and retreats. The men of the Church also play team sports. They have a softball team in the Spring and a basketball team in the Fall. The men meet every Thursday in the Family Life Center at 7:00 p.m. They have a Bible Study, in the Bible Study, they are taught how to be a Godly son, husband, father, and man. This is a great ministry for all men, especially father and sons. Myrtle Beach Manor is a nursing home in our community, where a group from Church go monthly to visit with the elderly. The last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. a group visits and holds service with the members of Myrtle Beach Manor. When they go and visit the elderly they sing songs, have a devotional, and help the residents of Myrtle Beach Manor in whatever ways they can. Sometimes the members of the nursing home just like having people come and see them; this is a great ways to minister to the elderly and to put a smile on someone's face.
The Multimedia and Sound Ministry is an important ministry in every Church service. These are the people that take care of the sound, screens, video, and lights. They now video each service on DVD and CD. DVD's are $7.00 and CD's are $5.00. They have Power Point Visuals for each service and weekly announcements. You are now able to watch each service live, in the Foyer of Church and Nursery. They are always trying to make each service easily available to all.
Nursery is available during all Worship Services and Jubilee for children infants through age three. Volunteers for the nursery rotate times and days. There are always two people in the nursery every service to watch over the children. If there gets to be a large number of children, there are more volunteers brought in for assistance to watch and care for the children, so the children are always supervised and taken the best possible care. These volunteers count this as one of the highest responsibilities and enjoy caring for your children and they always have the child's best interest in mind. You must be 18 years old to be approved to care for children in the nursery. You must also be approved and scheduled to do nursery by Joann Fagerberg.
Saints Alive is the adult senior ministry of Church. This ministry is very active and exciting all throughout the year. The seniors meet once monthly in the Family Life Center, where they have a devotion, play games, have dinner, and fellowship with each other. All during the year the seniors go on trips to many different locations: Gatlinburg, Charlotte, Charleston, and Savannah. They even go on a cruise annually in the Fall. This group also has fun dinners like: an Hawaiian Luau, Valentines Dinner, Christmas Dinner, and many more. They have a great time of fellowship no matter what they do.
Sisters of Dorcas our Widows Ministry of the Church. This is a ministry where women of the church focus on ways to help the elderly and the widows. This ministry provides widows transportation to church, meals, and makes hospital visits. The Sisters of Dorcas is for women of all ages. The Sisters of Dorcas has special events for the elderly and the widows like the Widows Tea Party, Widow's Dinner, and Thanksgiving Dinner. This group also sponsors The Grandparents' Day Banquet. This ministry year round and it gives comfort and company to widows who may not have any.
Street Reach Mission - Lois Clardy, 236-8534, Earl Conway Street Reach Mission is a great opportunity to not only minister to the spiritual needs of people in the community ,but to help people with their physical needs, as well. This ministry feeds the homeless a dinner, the first Tuesday of each month at the local shelter. They also provide the speaker for the that night, and this speaker gives a clear presentation of the Gospel, as well as an opportunity for those in attendance to surrender their lives to Christ. There is a different speaker each month when our group is there. They collect hygiene products at church to distribute to the needy people there. This ministry is year round; they have even fed the people at Street Reach on holidays, too. Street Reach gives everyone the opportunity to serve the less fortunate and to make a difference in someone else's life, whether it be bringing someone a meal or leading them to a wonderful, fulfilling life with Christ.
This is a vital outreach ministry at Church. This ministry puts the gospel, through a tract, in the hands of someone who is far from God, and maybe has never been to a church. This program is in charge of all of the tracts that go through Church. These people give tracts out all the time, and to anyone, like a restaurant waiter. This is a personal type of ministry, because when they are giving these tracts out, these people are giving out the gospel, and giving everyone a chance to meet Jesus. They have tracts for every occasion, and for all types of people whether hospitalized, addicted, divorced, abused, adults, or children. This is a ministry for all ages and this ministry can make a difference anywhere.
The Usher and Greeter ministry is a very important ministry of the Church. This is a group of men and women who show guests to their seats and hand out bulletins and Church information to guests. This group is very special because they are the first taste of the Church that the guest gets. These are the people who welcome and escort the guests throughout church. They are always very friendly, and will answer any questions that a guest or member may have. There are over five ushers and four greeters every week that do a variety of different things throughout the service and Bible Study hour. There are restrictions to becoming a Greeter or Usher, you must be trained and approved by the head Ushers.
Grand Strand Student Ministry (GSSM) is the arm of Grand Strand Baptist Church that reaches out to the students in our community from grades 7-12. GSSM desires to connect students to God through understanding the person and the work of Jesus Christ and to connect them to other students through fellowship with one another. GSSM desires for our students to grow in their understanding and obedience to the Word of God, the Bible, through in-depth Bible study. GSSM desires for our students to serve the church by volunteering to help in ministries throughout the church body and to serve the community in which they live, with Christ-like compassion and zeal. GSSM desires for our students to share the love, compassion, hope and grace that they have found through their relationship with God to all peoples in their sphere of outreach. |
